Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez say they haven’t called it quits, drastically changing course from 12 hours ago.
“All the reports are inaccurate. We are working through some things,” the couple said in a joint statement provided Saturday to USA TODAY by Rodriguez’s representative Ron Berkowitz.
The announcement came the morning after a person familiar with the situation but not authorized to speak publicly had confirmed the couple’s split to USA TODAY. Multiple news outlets, including People, E! and The Associated Press had also confirmed the news. Page Six first reported their breakup.
Lopez, 51, and Rodriguez, 45, were last seen together in public at Super Bowl LV in Tampa Bay, Florida in February, one year after Lopez headlined the 2020 Super Bowl LIV halftime show with Shakira in Miami. The couple also shared a kiss at the inauguration of President Joe Biden in January, where Lopez sang a mash-up of “This Land is Your Land,” “America the Beautiful” and her own hit “Let’s Get Loud.”
Lopez is currently in the Dominican Republic shooting the romantic comedy, “Shotgun Wedding.”

The duo made their red carpet debut in May 2017 at the Met Gala, and have been pretty inseparable ever since. Lopez called Rodriguez her “twin soul” during her Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award speech at the 2018 MTV VMAs.
Lopez and Rodriguez became engaged in March 2019 after the former baseball star popped the question to Lopez during a romantic, beach getaway. “She said yes,” Rodriguez captioned a sunset picture of a giant engagement ring on Lopez’s finger.
They were scheduled to tie the knot in Italy in June 2020, before the coronavirus pandemic hit mid-March. In April, Lopez told Ellen DeGeneres that her future nuptials are “in a holding pattern like the rest of the world.”
“Honestly, I really don’t know what’s going to happen now as far as dates or anything like that,” Lopez said on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on April 7. “It’s just something we’re going to have to wait and see in a few months how this all pans out.”

In December, the “Hustlers” star revealed on Andy Cohen’s radio show she was questioning whether or not to walk down the aisle.
“We’ve talked about (not getting married) for sure,” Lopez responded to Cohen, after he asked her about Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s relationship. (The couple has been together for over 35-years and never married.) Lopez added, “With like the Goldie thing and Kurt, you think, do you have to? Should we?”
Lopez continued: “I mean at our age, we’ve both been married before, it’s like, do we get married? Do we not? What does it mean for us? And it’s just, it comes down to like personal, like, what do you want to do? There’s definitely no rush though.”

She added that it was “really sad” to postpone their summer wedding.
“We had planned it all,” Lopez told Cohen on Dec. 21. “So in March or April, we’re looking down the pipe and we’re going, ‘This is maybe not going to happen.’ Italy’s the worst place in the world. And we were going to get married in Italy. I was like, ‘OK, we got to cancel everything.'”
But the pandemic had a silver lining. It freed up the usually busy couple “to work on ourselves,” Lopez told Allure this month, sharing that she and Rodriguez went to therapy together.
“It has been actually really good,” she told the publication. “We got to work on ourselves. We did therapy. I think it was really helpful for us in our relationship.”
Lopez was previously married to server Ojani Noa (1997 to 1998), dancer Cris Judd (2001 to 2003) and singer Marc Anthony (2004 to 2014), with whom she shares 13-year-old twins, Maximilian “Max” David and Emme Maribel. Rodriguez was married to Cynthia Scurtis from 2002 to 2008. They have two daughters: Natasha Alexander, 16, and Ella Alexander, 12.
