Among those affected will be IT contractors, engineers and consultants, with the crackdown being the biggest revenue-raising measure in this year’s first quarter.

The Government is expecting to raise up to £2.9billion by 2024 from the IR35 clampdown alone, which comes at a good time for the struggling economy.

But the scheme has come under fire from a number of sources, who feel the new legislation isn’t fair to contractors.

Joanne Harris, Technical Commercial Manager at Parasol told Express.co.uk: “With the IR35 changes coming, contractors and freelancers may be hoping for a further postponement of the reforms.
