I'm A Celebrity stars face 'detailed medical questionnaire'

I’m A Celebrity stars ‘given detailed questionnaires on their alcohol, pills and sleeping habits to prevent meltdowns in camp’

Famous faces entering this year’s I’m A Celebrity must reveal how much alcohol they drink on a weekly basis and their regular medication in order to prevent any meltdowns in camp.

ITV bosses are only able to ‘make judgements’ on whether or not a contestant is suitable ‘when they have the forms in front of them’.

The intimate questioning is said to have been put in place in order to ‘avoid Gemma Collins style meltdowns’.

A source told The Sun: ‘The questionnaires are very detailed and for good reason. The producers need to know if a celebrity is physically and mentally fit enough for the challenge ahead.

‘It is, after all, an entertainment show and there’s no point signing up someone who won’t cut the mustard because they can’t perform any of the tasks.’

The paper added that campmates must also ‘provide details of any medical conditions like sleep walking, night terrors, phobias and vertigo as well as permission for the show’s medical team to contact their GPs’.

MailOnline has reached out to ITV for comment.

Former TOWIE star Gemma, 40, famously made a shock exit from I’m A Celebrity after just 72 hours in 2014.

During her short stint on the show, Gemma was not only seen shedding tears over the prospect of jumping from a helicopter, but also broke down over the food on offer.

She later claimed in 2017 that her ex-boyfriend Alex Moss beat her to ‘within an inch of [her] life’ the night before she flew out to Australia for her appearance.

Gemma told The Mirror at the time that she arrived on the show badly bruised from the alleged attack, stating: ‘I was really severely beaten up by my partner the night before I went into the jungle, and not many people know.

‘My partner Alex beat me to within an inch of my life, and when I went in there, I was really badly beaten from my neck down.’

She also claimed that bosses of I’m A Celeb had initially tried to stop her from appearing on the show once they learned of her allegations, but Gemma insisted that she didn’t want to miss out on the ‘massive opportunity’, so pressed on for her ill-fated run.

Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that I’m A Celebrity’s 2021 start date is Sunday November 21.
