I'm A Celebrity 2021:Adam Woodyatt suffers furious backlash for 'smug and snide' comment

Adam Woodyatt came under fire on Sunday evening after making a perceived dig at fellow campmate Naughty Boy on the latest edition of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Viewers were adamant that an underlying feud was boiling between the pair after long-serving EastEnders star Adam, 53, aimed a dig at the record producer, 36, as he embarked on his latest trial.

Naughty Boy – real name Shahid Khan – has undertaken 11 grueling trials so far, but had some assistance from Olympian Matty Lee after faring badly during his last, the Wishing Well Challenge.

Talking to the Castle Telegraph, Adam admitted he had high hopes for the diver, but was less confident in his partner – with whom Naughty Boy would go on to win six stars.

Offering a withering assessment of the producer’s ability to win stars, he joked: ‘Sporty Boy is going to do alright – I’m not sure how Naughty Boy is going to do.’

However the comment didn’t go down well on social media, with many viewers criticizing the actor for being ‘snide and smug.’

Taking to Twitter, one enraged fan wrote: ‘What the hell was that @AdamWoodyatt. Naughty Boy has brought home 10/11 stars in his challenges so far – except the one he did last night with Adam!

‘So I don’t know why Adam’s being snide and smug. #ImACeleb.’

A second added: ‘Adam sounding very bitter implying Naughty Boy won’t do well in the trials. Clearly he’s forgotten all the trials NB has smashed where he’s brought back so many stars so that camp could eat well?’

While a third carped: ‘What is Adam talking about? As if Naughty Boy hasn’t smashed the majority of his trials and brought so many meals into camp. One trial he doesn’t get lots and suddenly it’s all I don’t know what he’s gonna do.’

Evidently in agreement, a fourth added: ‘Really Adam? WTF is his problem seriously? Every trial NB has come back with 10/11 stars bar the last night.’

While a fifth raged: ‘Adam is a mug…’don’t know what Naughty Boy is going to come back with. You haven’t said that the last six times Naughty Boy has brought back food that you’ve have shoved in your gob.’

I’m A Celebrity bosses have been forced to axe this year’s friends and family segment  for the second year running due to Covid-19 fears.

The sentimental part of the show usually happens towards the end, and ITV producers reportedly wanted relatives to appear 48 hours before the end of the current series.

Representatives have confirmed to MailOnline that the segment will not be happening, much the same as last year.

A source told The Sun that show bosses did not see the point of getting friends and family to quarantine to enter the Welsh castle as it might all be for nothing if the celebrity ended up leaving early.

They told the publication: ‘What with vaccines and the world learning to live with Covid, producers had hoped they’d be able to do [the segment].

‘One option was to get friends and family to quarantine, too — just as the celebrities did before they went in.

‘But that would prove to be a logistical headache and so many would end up doing it for nothing if their celebrity family member went home early.’

It comes after Richard Madeley was forced to pull out of the competition due to breaking the Covid bubble after he was rushed to hospital.

In the past, emotional reunions have included James Haskell and Richard’s daughter Chloe, Jacqueline Jossa and her husband Dan Osbourne and Vicky Pattison and her mother Carol.

The segment became a firm fan favourite, though, after Jamie Redknapp was reunited with his wife Sandra back in 2018.

He was surprised by her arrival, and exclaimed: ‘No!’ and hugged her for several moments.

The reunion left viewers and presenters in tears, with one time host Holly Willoughby left in tears at the footage.
