Halfords has benefited from a lockdown cycle boom with bike sales up from last year
Halfords has benefited from a lockdown cycle boom.
The bike and car-parts retailer said sales jumped 11.7 per cent in the 13 weeks to January 1 – with cycling particularly strong, up 35.4 per cent compared with a year ago. This was partly due to cyclists who bought bikes during the spring lockdown turning to Halfords for repairs and tweaks, but motoring sales were down 8.4 per cent.
Halfords suffered from disruption at UK ports as the border with France shut due to Covid-19 in the latter part of 2020.
