Gregg Wallace and John Torode are back on television screens on Monday for the 17th series of MasterChef. The duo, who have worked alongside each other since 2004, rarely see each other outside of work, even though they get on and have known each other for 17 years.
Despite the fact that John was Gregg’s best man when he married his wife Anne-Marie in 2016, the pair have not even been to each other’s homes.
They spoke about their friendship in a new, joint interview, saying their behaviour often confuses fans.
“It’s well documented that we don’t socialise outside of work,” said John.
“We’ve never been to each other’s houses. We’ve never really cooked for each other,” the Australian-born chef added.

He’s also joined by his teenage children from a previous marriage, as well as his father and his wife’s mother.
Gregg is dad to Tom and Libby following his second marriage to pastry chef Denise.
When the 56-year-old former greengrocer tied the knot with Anne-Marie at Hever Castle almost five years ago, John served as best man.
The MasterChef hosts are currently riding high in the knowledge that their show was the third most watched programme on BBC iPlayer last year.
