Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway was forced to step in and apologise on Wednesday’s show when guest Harriet Thorpe swore on the ITV show. The actress joined linguist Dr Rob Drummond to discuss whether it’s offensive to mimic a foreign accent after an Italian restaurant owner took to social media to blast diners who mocked his accent.
Rob argued accents are often mimicked to portray someone negatively rather than positively.
However, Harriet disagreed and suggested taking on different accents can be integral to some comedies.
She said using accents doesn’t mean you’re “taking the p*** out of somebody else”.
