Animal lover: On Saturday Gisele Bundchen shared a video of herself rescuing a turtle that was wrapped in a fishing net after her dog Onyx drew attention to the struggling animal
She began the post by reminding her followers that ‘Life is a series of opportunities that appear daily, and we choose what to do with them. Today was no different.’
According to Gisele, she discovered the helpless turtle during an early morning workout with her dog.
‘Early this morning I was walking on the beach and Onyx started barking at a pile of ocean trash that had washed during high tide,’ she explained.
Gisele, who’s married to Tom Brady, described the moment she realized it was more than a pile of trash: ‘When I came closer I saw this beautiful turtle turned upside down with a look of hopelessness and exhaustion in her eyes, her body knotted and entangled in a fishing net.’
The sensitive soul continued, ‘I immediately started to free her from the net that was strangling her, but even after we got her untied, she was too tired to make her way back to the ocean.’

Experiencing a visceral reaction she explained what she did next.
‘I didn’t think twice, I just picked her up and [carried] her to the water. (amazing how adrenaline can make you stronger!).’
The Brazilian beauty said, ‘I felt relieved and so happy to see her swim away freely, grateful that I was there and able to help. But there are so many other animals that unfortunately end up dying on nets like this.’
And wrapping up the thoughtful caption she noted, ‘Today I was reminded that we must become more aware of our ways as a species and help protect all animals, it’s our choice.
‘I pray that we can all rise and remember that the opportunity to change begins with a single act.’

The lengthy commentary was also posted in Portuguese for her Brazilian supporters.
In the video Gisele is heard speaking in her native language as she untangles the large turtle from the strains of pollution.
Although she talked about how heavy the creature was, she managed to release it to the sea all by herself as someone recorded the entire process.
The end result showed an edited video which featured small heart animations and accompanying heartfelt music.
