The world of Westeros is set to expand with a brand new prequel series on HBO, House of the Dragon. The Game of Thrones spin-off will feature a cast of all-stars, including Olivia Cooke, who recently admitted shes only sat down to watch the original fantasy epic after she landed the role.
House of the Dragon star Olivia Cooke has claimed she had never seen an episode of Game of Thrones before being cast in the new spin-off.
Each episode pulled in millions of viewers from around the world when it was broadcast on HBO from 2011-2019.
However, in a recent interview with Metro.co.uk, Cooke admitted she somehow failed to jump on the fantasy bandwagon.
She told Metro: “I only watched it once I got the offer. I hadn’t seen it before.”

The actress also recalled having to tell her mother not to let slip any spoilers when she finally sat down to watch the series.
Like most late-comers to the franchise, she did concede that she always intended to watch the series when she found the time.
Cooke went on: “It was so beloved and I was always going to get round to it, but then it just got away from me.
“Suddenly it was like eight series and I was like, ‘I don’t know when I’m ever going to watch this’ – until when I got the offer. That was as good an excuse as any.”
The House of the Dragon star recalled: “I did it in like two weeks. My mum even less.
“She was like, ‘What episode are you on?’ I’m like, ‘Mum, do not tell me anything, because you’re ahead of me now’.”
Thankfully, the film and TV star somehow managed to avoid Thrones’ shocking twists and revelations, which have dominated the internet over the last decade.
Now that she’s seen the series at last, Olivia Cooke said that she finally understands the hype.
She added: “It’s so well done and the story is so amazing.”
The actress also questioned how so many millions of fans were able to remain patient enough to watch the series week-by-week.
Cooke said: “I don’t know how I would have done that really because I was so invested after the first season.”
Despite some shaky fan reactions to Game of Thrones’ final season, Olivia Cooke signed off by saying she’s hopeful the new prequel series can live up to the high bar set by the original series.
