Frank Lampard and Dean Smith 'not totally convinced' by Norwich vacancy after talks held

As such, there is the very real possibility that whoever takes charge will be following them down to the Championship next season, unless they can mastermind a dramatic turnaround.

Lampard does have previous experience in that regard with Derby County, although dropping back down from the Premier League will surely not have been in his thoughts when he took the Chelsea job back in 2019.

News that Lampard and Smith are having reservations about heading to Norwich will come as a major blow, considering the club supposedly held two rounds of talks with the former Chelsea boss.

Smith has not been as heavily linked, and his recent departure from Villa could see him keen to take a break unless the Canaries table a tempting enough offer.
