Ed Sheeran cuts a trendy figure in a tan shearling jacket as he exits London restaurant

Ed Sheeran made the most of his self-isolation stint coming to an end as he enjoyed dinner at Viet Populaire in London on Thursday.

The singer, 30, contracted Covid-19 last month and had been forced to isolate with his daughter Lyra, 14 months, who also tested positive for the virus.

It couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Shivers singer, who is in the midst of promoting his new album, so he wasted no time getting out of the house once his isolation period came to an end.

Ed recorded an appearance on The Jonathan Ross show earlier in the week before heading out again for a dinner on Thursday.

The singer  showcased his trendy sense of style in a tan shearling jacket and baggy dark grey Stone Island trousers during the outing.

Wearing a pale pink T-shirt beneath the number, he had styled his ginger tresses into a tousled hairdo and donned a black face mask.

Strolling through the city in a pair of white-and-brown trainers featuring pink laces, the singer was flanked by a pair of burly bodyguards.

Ed recently announced he will perform on Saturday Night Live after catching Covid last month.

The Brit Award winner completed his quarantine period after testing positive and has so been cleared to take to the stage for the show’s November 6 broadcast, which will be hosted by Succession star Kieran Culkin.

He took to Instagram on Tuesday to inform his followers that he’s ‘had the all-clear’ and has now been released from isolation.

The songwriter wrote: ‘Posting this pic to say I’m released from Covid isolation today, so if you see me out and about I’ve had the all-clear and done my quarantine.

‘Excited to hit the ground running with work again, and SNL is still on, so tune in Saturday, see you there.’

Saturday Night Live producers will surely be relieved as it was previously reported that they were ‘scrambling’ to replace Ed after the singer revealed that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

An insider told Page Six that producers on the NBC comedy staple were seeking ‘another singer who appeals to the same demo’ to replace Sheeran on the show, with Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes cited as potential stand-ins.

The source said that the show could permit Ed to stage a remote performance, but typically, ‘the show likes to have the performer in studio. Ed is offering to perform live via video link, but this isn’t something SNL does.’

Ed took to social media Sunday to update fans on his health, writing: ‘Hey guys. Quick note to tell you that I’ve sadly tested positive for Covid, so I’m now self-isolating and following government guidelines.

‘I’m now unable to plough ahead with any in person commitments for now, so I’ll be doing as many of my planned interviews/performances I can from my house.

‘Apologies to anyone I’ve let down. Be safe everyone x.’

He explained: ‘It was just me and my daughter in the house and my wife lived next door for a bit.

‘My wife had been away when I got diagnosed with it [so] she’d cook us dinner and drop it off. It was actually really nice to have one-on-one time [with my daughter].’

Ed went on: ‘To do 10 days uninterrupted was pretty fun. She’s 14 months. Walking everywhere.’

As for his symptoms, Ed told host Jonathan: ‘I had headaches, aches, tight chest, cough, couldn’t taste.’

Ever the jokester, Ed added: ‘I did get a vindaloo in. They say you can’t taste, but there’s still the sweat and the heat.’
