Fans last saw Dick and Angel Strawbridge preparing for a Christmas like no other in their beautiful 19th-Chateau last December. Ahead of Escape to the Chateau and the other spin-off shows returning to Channel 4 this year, the couple – who left England to restore a 45 room French castle five years ago – have spoken out about their ever-evolving plans to create their dream property and business, as well as whether they would considering moving somewhere else after all the restoration work is done.
Dick and Angel joined ITV’s Lorraine last summer, which Christine Lampard presented.
She asked: “How is your majestic Chateau – we see it there behind you, it’s just a stunning property.
“I know, having watched the series, when you first bought it there was no electricity, no running water, there was so much work to be done. It looks so beautiful now and something you must be very proud of?”

“We, you hear that Christine?” Dick laughed. “We move the goalposts.
“It’s very comfortable and we’ve got a lot more projects to do. But this is our life, this is where we are and the idea of moving, we can’t even think about it. We want to be here forever.
“And consequently we’re still evolving and we’re having a ball as a family – we’re here to live our life!” He added.
As for what Dick and Angel are up to currently, they are on the lookout for people to take part in the second series of Escape to the Chateau: Make Do and Mend.
Angel said: “We’ve had more time to open our drawers and cupboards and find those items and get excited to find these things again.
“But what’s been lovely about the show is our brilliant contributors – they’ve been opening up their cupboards and they’ve been finding things, heirlooms and putting them back into commission again.
“I cry, all the way through!” The mother of two remarked.
“She does a lot of crying, a lot of crying,” her husband confirmed. “But everybody has a to-do list, and it’s just about taking the opportunity and doing it.”
