Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has finally broken his silence on finishing sixth in Ballon d’Or voting, with longstanding rival Lionel Messi taking home the top prize. With the results told to participants days in advance, the Portuguese snubbed the Paris ceremony altogether.
Messi claimed the top prize over Robert Lewandowski and Jorginho, both of whom racked up significant amounts of votes.
While the Bayern Munich star has fired in goals for fun over the past few seasons, Jorginho was an integral part of Chelsea’s Champions League triumph and Italy’s Euro 2020 victory.
N’Golo Kante and Karim Benzema also finished above Ronaldo, who failed to add to his five Ballon d’Or trophies by finishing sixth.
On a social media post which outlined his achievements over the past year and questioned his Ballon d’Or placing, the 36-year-old finally broke his silence on the matter, simply stating: “Facts.”
