Cold Weather Payment: Could you get £25 from DWP? Postcode checker holds full details

The Cold Weather Payment scheme is designed to help Britons during particularly freezing weather, which many parts of the UK have experienced recently. Eligible people will receive a payment if the average temperature in their area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below over seven consecutive days. The Cold Weather Payment scheme runs from November 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021, which still means there is ample time for Britons to benefit from a payout.

This is paid directly into the same bank or building society account as a person receives their benefit payments.

However, there are also other eligibility criteria to bear in mind when it comes to a Cold Weather Payment.

It is not simply living in an area which forecasts or records freezing cold temperatures which will entitle Britons to a payout.

Instead, individuals will need to be in receipt of certain benefits in order to meet the eligibility criteria.

In this case, the Government has provided important guidance on the next steps to take.

Britons are encouraged to tell their pension centre or Jobcentre Plus office if they believe they should have received a Cold Weather Payment and have not.

For those who are in receipt of Universal Credit, the best way to alert the DWP to a lack of payment is to add a note to one’s online journal.

However, individuals without an online account will need to ring the Universal Credit helpline, details of which can be found on correspondence concerning a person’s claim.
