Discussing the comments and the series on Big Questions, Nicky Campbell asked for Biggins’ views.
“I was just going to say I’ve been an actor for a long, long time and I’ve played lots of heterosexual people, I’ve played sex-crazed vicars in Poldark, which I absolutely loved,” Biggins said.
“And I was voted the most-hated man that year by the Daily Mail which is quite something but you know it was a joy to play that part because it was a part.
“All acting is parts, we’re to necessarily saying, and I think Russell was wrong in a way and I think what he was doing, Russell, was he was trying to provoke publicity for a show which he didn’t know whether it was going to work.
