Thomas Tuchel has declared that Burnley snatched a point as a result of ‘pure luck’ after Chelsea were held to a draw at home by the Clarets on Saturday afternoon. The unfancied visitors struck late on through Matej Vydra to claim a welcome point at Stamford Bridge after Kai Havertz had fired Chelsea into a first-half lead.
The German maestro put Chelsea in control of the match shortly after the half-hour mark, converting a fine cross from Reece James to draw first blood for the hosts.
The Blues huffed and puffed as they went in search of an insurance goal, but were unable to beat Nick Pope between the sticks as the clock ticked down.
Burnley made Chelsea pay for their inability to double their advantage with 11 minutes remaining when Vydra fired past Mendy to snatch a draw.
