Blake Shelton releases wedding song he wrote and sang as his vows to bride Gwen Stefani on their wedding day: ‘We Can Reach The Stars’


Fans had heard about it and were clamoring to hear it. 

And now, some four months after Blake Shelton sang his vows to Gwen Stefani with a song her specifically wrote to her for their summer wedding, fans are finally getting a first listen. 

The country crooner officially released the emotional and heartfelt song of love to his bride that he titled, We Can Reach The Stars, which will appears on his upcoming studio album Body Language Deluxe.

After delaying their nuptials due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Shelton and Stefani finally tied-the-knot at his Oklahoma home on July 3, 2021.  

With the two of them both making their living as singer-songwriters, Shelton decided what better way to express his love to a fellow musician than through a song. 

‘Gwen and I decided we were going to write our own vows for the wedding, but I decided to surprise her by writing a song instead,’ the gushing groom said in a statement to People on Thursday. 

‘I reached out to my buddy Craig Wiseman, who is a world-class songwriter, to help me write and structure something that would stand the test of time.’

Setting a sweet tone, the song kicks off with an acoustic guitar and a bit of classic slide guitar blended together, forming a musical hook of sorts.

In the first verse, Shelton reminiscences about sharing his first kiss with Stefani, and feeling ‘like we were kids’ ever since.  

‘You and me are a blessing and all we gotta do is say amen, amen,’ he sings while building up to the big sing-a-long chorus.

For the chorus, the Oklahoma native breaks out the lovely double vocal tracking and harmonies, as he professes his love for his bride.

‘And I know we can reach the stars – That’s how far my love will go for you – I know we can reach the stars – You’ve already hung the moon.’

Shelton would share about some of the darker times in life in the second verse and how ‘It isn’t always sunny days -Now and then, the thunder rolls.’ 

But by the end of the section he”s professing a new brighter outlook, compliments of his new bride, singing, ‘You know you amaze my heart – You saved my heart.’             

‘I’m really proud of #WeCanReachTheStars and I’m really honored to be with @gwenstefani,’ Shelton shared in a statement on Instagram.  

‘That’s why we got married in the first place. That’s why we wear rings… because we want everyone to know. I’m thrilled to share this song with the world. “We Can Reach The Stars” off of #BodyLanguage (Deluxe) is out now.’           

We Can Reach The Stars is among the four new tracks that appear on the deluxe edition of his May 2021 album, Body Language.

While the new wedding vow song is already out, the album version is slated to drop on December 3.
