Ben Shephard has taken to Twitter to react to Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis’ awkward blunder while discussing the Tipping Point host’s age on his Money Show last night. Martin, 48, who is known for his financial tips, was telling ITV viewers how to work out how much they should be paying into their pension for their retirement.
Martin explained he is often asked how much a person should save towards their old age before using the ages of three famous faces – Dina Asher-Smith, 25, Rochelle Humes, 31, and Ben Shephard, 46 – to illustrate his point.
Using the stars as examples, while declaring he didn’t know whether they had their own pensions or not, Martin said there is a rough calculation a person can do.
“The rule of thumb is to get roughly two thirds of your final salary each year in retirement, you’d need to take the age you start contributing to your pension,” he explained.
“Halve it, and put that percentage of your salary in for the rest of your life.”

However, Martin’s calculations went awry while discussing Ben’s potential pension alongside co-host Angellica Bell.
Martin told viewers: “Ben Shephard’s at least 60. Half of 60?”
“23,” Angellica replied before Martin realised his error, adding: “No 30, half of 60 is 30!”
Apologising to his ITV colleague, Martin added: “Sorry Ben, good friend of mine, he’s too pretty for his own good…”
One person joked: “Unbelievable you don’t look a day over 59 only kidding.”
Another added: “It’s only a number Ben but it’s a high one.”
A third fan said: “That did make me laugh! You’re clearly no older than 55!”
Elsewhere, Ben recently admitted he was “slightly worried” after his wife Annie Shephard dressed as a “butcher” in a red and white striped apron, to give him a lockdown trim.
