On the Tuesday it was announced the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be sitting down with US chat show host and close friend Oprah Winfrey for an interview about their time in the royal family and decision to leave The Firm, Prince Philip was admitted to King Edward VII’s hospital in London as a “precautionary measure”. Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Piers Morgan slammed the couple for flying Oprah into their California home to sit and talk about Megxit while the Duke of Edinburgh lay in hospital.
Blasting the pair on GMB, Piers began: “He responded snapping back at the Queen about what service means, the gall of it.
“More offensively, on Tuesday we learned Oprah Winfrey flew into their Californian home in Santa Barbara for two days of guts spilling about the royals with Meghan and Harry.
“We knew on Tuesday that Prince Philip, his grandfather, had been taken to hospital.
“The idea that Prince Harry’s reaction would be to sit down with the biggest talk show star in the world, with his wife and spew presumably some stuff about how they were treated by the royals as Prince Philip is lying in hospital, I’m sorry, but we are allowed to say given they are still the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and making bazillion out of their royal titles, we are entitled to go ‘Sorry that’s not on.’”

Susanna admitted: “I think the timing of that was insensitive.”
The presenter went on to slam the couple’s behaviour in recent weeks, particularly the announcement of their pregnancy despite asking for privacy.
“This is a couple who have just fought a privacy battle against the Mail On Sunday,” Piers remarked.
“They have built themselves as the Prince and Princess of privacy but then when it came to revealing a private moment like the pregnancy, they don’t have to tell us they’re pregnant.
Piers asked. “That’s not how it works.”
Susanna hit back: “Well someone like me who is on television doesn’t necessarily want every aspect of their life to be broadcast.”
“Nobody does, but if you’re making $100million from Netflix, who by the way have just invaded your own family’s life in Harry’s case more than anyone in history with The Crown and you take $100million from the company who trashed your family, then you claim to be the Prince of Privacy, do me a favour!”
Those tuning into the debate were divided, with one posting on Twitter: “I’m going to wait until this money spinner Oprah interview is done before I judge. If they slate the Royals then I fully expect them to lose their titles.”
