Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta can no longer avoid glaring change needed against Everton

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side fell to a resurgent Manchester United side the other day at Old Trafford, with many fans berating the performances of their players. And one man in particular, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has come under criticism in recent weeks with his starting spot surely a doubt on current form.

The Gabonese star, 32, has usually scored goals aplenty at the Emirates since his move from Borussia Dortmund in 2018.

Having notched up a total of 54 goals in just 85 Premier League appearances by the end of the 2019/20 season, Aubameyang clearly established himself as one of the world’s best strikers.

His double in the FA Cup final in 2020, alongside the Premier League Golden Boot the season prior, gave Arsenal no reason to replace him.

Yet having scored just four goals this season as the New Year approaches, Arsenal fans are growing impatient with their captain.

“You put him as your captain. 15 minutes to go, you’re losing 3-2 and you take him off.

“3-2 away from home, you need a goal and you take your captain, your symbol, off the field.

“You know he can score you goals so something is not right there.”

And despite Arteta rejecting claims there is a problem with Aubameyang, there is clearly an issue with his form. It might make sense therefore to drop him against Everton.
