America's Next Top Model vet Sarah Hartshorne claims she was paid only $40 A DAY as a contestant

Another former America’s Next Top Model contestant has come forward with more damning claims about the show.

Sarah Hartshorne, who appeared on cycle nine of the hit series, alleged she was only paid $40 a day and had to pay for her own food while on the show.

‘$40 a day, no residuals, and we had to pay for food,’ Sarah tweeted in response to a fan raising awareness to the issue.

A plus-size contestant who went home on episode eight, Hartshorne went on to model for Glamour, Vogue and Skechers after leaving the show. She is now a writer, comedian and content creator.

On her TikTok, Hartshorne claimed she and the contestants had a meeting with the show’s lawyers and producers who informed them that if they ‘talked about anything that had happened or was going to happen we would be sued for $10M’ as part of the contract they had signed.

Hartshorne alleged the lawyers told them they would sue members of their family if they were unable to cough up the money themselves.

Banks and her now-cancelled show America’s Next Top Model has come under fire in recent years with former contestants coming forward with various claims and challenges the models participated in on the show coming under extra scrutiny.

In 2020, the show was blasted for incidents involving a blackface photoshoot, a grieving model who was forced to pose in a casket, and Banks’ criticism of a contestant’s natural gap tooth.

Banks, the show’s former host and creator, was forced to apologize for her ‘insensitive’ past behavior and told she had made some ‘really off choices’ that she did not agree with now.

‘Been seeing the posts about the insensitivity of some past ANTM moments and I agree with you. Looking back, those were some really off choices. Appreciate your honest feedback and am sending so much love and virtual hugs,’ she tweeted in May 2020.

In January, a former ANTM winner blasted Banks for exploiting her ‘childhood traumas’ for profit on the show.

Lisa D’Amato, who won America’s Next Top Model: All Star, revealed that she risked breach of contract by appearing on an episode of E! True Hollywood Story, where she discussed the alleged mistreatment she faced on the show.

The star got choked up as she explained: ‘I did it knowing that it was a breach of contract, still, because I felt like it was my duty to warn other girls that were going to audition for America’s Next Top Model to know that what you guys do.

‘And the way that you guys would poke me and use my childhood trauma against me, day in and day out. It was just so f***ed up, and it broke my heart. Like, how could you do that?’

She continued: ‘I don’t know how you sleep at night. You, Tyra, you knew very well the horrible trauma that my mom inflicted on me.

‘And you also talk so much about how you wouldn’t be where you are without your mother and how powerful she is [in your life]. So knowing that, you still did that to me and continued to do it to other girls, even after I spoke publicly about it.’

In addition to calling out Banks, she called out the show’s co-creator: ‘You know, I never knew if you were innocent or guilty. I always just pinned Ken Mok.’

Former ANTM creative director Jay Manuel also took aim at Banks and the show in his satirical novel The Wig, The B**** & The Meltdown.

He previously told Variety: ‘I do think it’s a little unfair for people to persecute Tyra now, especially because she has already taken heat for her past executive decisions in past years. However, I can’t really defend her either because when ratings were high and things were great, she remained a clear figurehead, because it was her show.

‘Consistently, when s*** hit the fan and people wanted to talk about some of the things that were said on the show, we would have another singular EP come forward to claim that all creative decisions were made as the team, and I really wish that were the case, but that just simply is not true.’
