Abbie Chatfield had a grim brush with death on Saturday. 

The former Bachelor star said she was left ‘shaking and screaming’ on the side of a highway for 45 minutes, after ‘almost dying’ in a car accident. 

The 26-year-old, who was recently in Byron Bay and likely driving home to Sydney from the area, tearfully told the tale in a series of Instagram Stories, revealing she was going 110mph when a caravan served in front of her.

‘Just almost died guys,’ she said tearfully in one of the clips, which was filmed from inside her vehicle while she was parked just off the highway. 

‘I had to break to a stop. I was a metre behind hitting that car. If I hadn’t braked as early as I did, I would have died,’ she continued while fighting tears. 

‘Thank f***k the person behind me was a good driver, so they could serve into the grass part, because my car was like that [sideways].

The reality star added that she had been parked on the side of the road for close to an hour ‘shaking and screaming’. 

She then revealed she planned to ‘watch a movie’ to calm down before continuing her journey.

She was referring to Love Island Australia Afterparty, the television show which she hosts. 

Later, Abbie revealed she had been ‘literally shaking so hard’ that she ‘could not see’ after the incident but had since arrived at the next town, an hour’s drive away, safely.
